Phoenix, AZ (September 18, 2019) – A suspect in a hit-and-run crash threatened the victim of the accident before fleeing from Phoenix police on Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials, the suspect collided with the victim before brandishing a gun and fleeing from officers. The suspect and other occupants of the vehicle fled from the area of 16th Avenue and Osborn Road, then abandoned the vehicle to escape on foot, said Sgt. Maggie Cox, Phoenix police spokeswoman.
Phoenix police eventually apprehended the suspects but have not released their information at this time. Phoenix paramedics were at the crash scene to assist the victim of the accident, though it appears that EMTs treated the victim at the scene.
The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Hit-and-Run Accidents in Arizona
More than 65,000 people are injured each year, with nearly 1,000 fatalities, as a result of car accidents. Many of these crashes are hit-and-run wrecks, where the at-fault driver leaves the scene of the accident to avoid financial consequences or even criminal charges. Though leaving the scene of an accident is illegal in Arizona, hit-and-run wrecks still occur with some frequency.
These circumstances leave victims in a tough position, where they’re forced to face financial difficulties, injuries, and emotional trauma. But those affected can seek help from an accident lawyer, and in some cases, seek the justice and fair compensation they deserve after a crash.
