Phoenix, AZ – Officer Struck by Driver Near 16th St & Southern Ave

Phoenix, AZ (September 30, 2019) – An officer was hit and injured by a distracted driver in a Phoenix neighborhood on Monday morning.

Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department, the officer was struck in a neighborhood near 16th Street and Southern Avenue around 7:30 a.m. The officer was directing traffic when he was struck by the distracted driver.

Phoenix EMTs were at the scene to treat the officer, whose injuries were non-life threatening. The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Authorities say that the accident investigation is ongoing, though impairment was not a factor in the crash.
