Casa Grande, AZ (October 30, 2019) – Two young girls were hit and injured by a car while waiting for the school bus on Tuesday morning.
According to officials from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred near Arizola Road and Jimmie Kerr Boulevard around 7:00 a.m. Witnesses said that a friend yelled that the bus was coming before the girls ran into the roadway without yielding to traffic. After entering the roadway, they were immediately struck by a small sedan.
The sedan was driven by a 19-year-old woman who was taking her brother to school.
Both victims, 6-year-old and 7-year-old siblings, were airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for immediate treatment. The 6-year-old girl is in critical condition, while the 7-year-old is in stable condition. Officials say the driver remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. They say impairment is not a factor in the accident, though they are still investigating at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
