Cordes Lakes, AZ – Injuries Reported in Motorcycle Wreck on I-17

Cordes Lakes, AZ (October 13, 2019) – Injuries were reported in a serious accident on southbound Interstate 17 early Sunday.

Per reports from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the wreck occurred on I-17 in Cordes Lakes at milepost 262, just outside Mayer. Arizona State Troopers arrived on the scene shortly after the crash occurred and said that a motorcycle collided with another vehicle, though they didn’t provide details about the car involved.

Before troopers arrived at the scene of the accident, the motorcyclist was lying in the road while traffic continued passing in the next lane. The injured motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital by paramedics in serious condition, but further information on the rider’s injuries was not released.

Authorities closed the freeway near milepost 262 to investigate, and heavy delays stopped traffic all the way back to State Route 69, A spokesman from the Arizona Department of Transportation advised drivers to use alternative routes while officials continued to work at the scene.
