Phoenix, AZ (October 2, 2019) – One fatality and at least one injury were reported after a four-car crash early Tuesday morning.
Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department, four vehicles collided near East Sonoran Desert Drive and North Cave Creek Road. Stephen Coe, 77, was driving his 2006 Nissan Altima northbound on Cave Creek Road, shortly before 7:00 a.m., when he made a left turn on Sonoran Desert Drive and failed to yield.
At that time, he collided with a 2007 Toyota RAV4 driven by a 61-year-old woman traveling southbound. The collision caused a chain-reaction wreck that also involved two other vehicles. Coe was transported to a hospital via ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead. The identities and current conditions of the other injured victims have not been released.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Stephen Coe. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Arizona
Hundreds of car wrecks occur daily on Arizona highways, ranging in severity from minor fender benders to serious crashes involving injuries or even fatalities. According to data released by the Arizona Department of Transportation, nearly 130,000 crashes occurred throughout the state last year, with almost 11,000 involving more than two drivers and multiple injured persons.
After multi-vehicle crashes, victims have to deal with insurance companies, long-term physical problems, emotional distress, and financial issues. However, those affected can seek help from a personal injury lawyer and learn more about protecting their legal rights or seeking compensation after a multi-car crash.
