Phoenix, AZ (March 4, 2020) – A man is dead following a Phoenix hit-and-run early Tuesday morning.
The collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road, according to Phoenix police. The pedestrian, whose name was not released by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Christepher Crawford, 23, called police a short time later to report his involvement in the hit-and-run. Crawford was driving his Chevrolet Silverado north on 43rd Avenue from Interstate 10 when he struck and killed the victim before leaving the scene, Phoenix police said. Crawford was arrested shortly before 9:30 a.m. on suspicion of one count of leaving the scene of an accident with death or injury. He is being held without bond at a Maricopa County jail, according to jail records.
The crash remains under investigation.
